Peg People

I’m so blessed to have a husband who complies with request such as “Honey, can you paint peg people for the kids for Christmas?”. Peg people are gaining popularity and there is no shortage of set ideas on Pinterest and Etsy. I love the direction that my husband took with the painting. Details like the facial hair on the cowboys just slay me! Most peg people you see online are painted with acrylic paints. We used natural milk paint and finished them with a homemade beeswax finish. I think they turned out great and I’m sure the kids will be thrilled with them!

Wood peg people available at Stockade in Canada. Sample kit of Milk Paint available at Gallaghers.

Valentine Stitching

Cross Stitch
A Rainbow of Stitches

I hope that everyone in this end of the world has survived the cold snap. I hibernated at home, and started a few Valentines Day projects from my favourite embroidery book ‘A Rainbow of Stitches’. This book is a great source of modern cross stitch and embroidery projects. The Aida cloth, floss and towel come from a stash of craft supplies that were given to me. I can’t say no to free craft supplies! Valentine’s Day is the one time of year that I think you can get away with displaying a garish red fingertip towel. I also have a scrappy fabric heart bunting in the works.

What have you been doing to stay busy during this dreary time of year?

Summer slow

Shaking off the lazy slow of summer days. I’m feeling ready to tackle some fall sewing. First up is to participate again in Elsie Marley’s Fall Kids Clothing Week Challenge. Last year’s week was such a great time to focus on sewing for the kids. Time to root through my fabric stash to get some inspiration!
